Enzo is a 14 year old Shih Tzu looking for a cozy retirement home. Don't let his age fool you: Enzo still likes being part of all the action. He's often one of the first dogs to greet new visitors and one of the first to run outside when the back doors open.
Enzo weighs 12 pounds, is a good eater, and loves to chase and play with toys. He lived with two other dogs in his previous home, and has done well with the other dogs at the rescue. He has some stiffness in his hind legs, but he still happily runs and chases toys.
Enzo does have a few medical needs that his future family should be aware of. He has idiopathic epilepsy and takes seizure medication twice daily. During the two months he's been in our care, we've only witnessed one seizure, which lasted about 60 seconds and involved involuntary kicking movements of his legs. He recovered quickly afterward. He'll need routine blood work every six months to monitor his medication.
Enzo also has a grade 3 heart murmur and stage B1 mitral valve disease. He does not need medication at this time, but he should have another echocardiogram in 9 months to monitor for any changes.
Since arriving, Enzo has had a dental, been neutered, and had a small mass removed from his eyelid. He's recovered well from all of his procedures and is feeling great! He is up to date on vaccines and recently had full blood work.
