Toby - Shih Poo Dog for Adoption in Shiloh, Illinois

Meet Toby — A Sweet Shih Tzu Looking for His Forever Home!

Toby is a 4-year-old Shih Tzu who is proof that every dog deserves a second chance at a loving life. This sweet little guy was found roaming the streets of a rough neighborhood, covered in cockle burrs and dog poop that had become attached to his severely matted coat.

Before we could even begin his veterinary care, Toby needed some serious TLC. After a thorough groom and bath, he was clipped down and given a fresh start. Once he was comfortable and clean, his wonderful personality began to shine through.

Now it's Toby's turn to find his forever family!

Toby absolutely loves being with his people and would happily spend his days curled up in your lap. He is very food motivated, does great in a kennel, and is making good progress with potty training. We have a feeling Toby may never have truly been an indoor dog, which is heartbreaking considering his sweet disposition and the fact that Shih Tzus are meant to be cherished companions.

Despite his difficult past, Toby is a loving, affectionate little dog who is ready to experience the comfort and security of a real home. He walks great on a leash and does wonderfully on car rides, making him a fun companion for adventures or quiet days at home.

Toby should do well with dogs, cats, and children. Because he is a small dog, very young children who may try to pick him up could be overwhelming for him. However, we believe respectful children who understand how to interact gently with dogs would be just fine.

Toby now has a clean bill of health, is freshly groomed, and is ready for his forever home. All he needs is a family who will show him how wonderful life can be and give him the love he should have had all along.

If you have room in your heart for a sweet, cuddly Shih Tzu who wants nothing more than to be by your side, Toby might be your perfect match.
