When Altair first arrived at our home, he was a handful.
A big dog who had never been given boundaries and rules.
Within just days of consistency in learning boundaries, and a schedule, a completely different dog emerged.
This may be the single most trainable dog we have ever fostered.
He is incredibly intelligent and wants to please his people.
He would be a runner's dream companion.

Altair is learning his manners both with people and dogs.
He's now in doggy daycamp with dogs from 25 lbs, up to his daycare bestie, an 80 lb boxer.

He kennels clean and quiet and is 99% potty trained if you pay attention to his ques.

We have a little more work and training to do, but we would love to have a home ready for him when he's ready.

Altair's Home Requirements:
[ ] A fenced yard
[ ] No children under 12 (purely because he learning his own size and spacial awareness)
[ ] An active owner that can fulfill his moderate daily exercise and mental stimulation needs.
[ ] An owner that wants to continue his training to guide him to be the dog he can be.

Adoption donation required. This covers altering, DAP series vaccinations to date of adoption, Bordetella Vaccination, Rabies vaccination if over four months, Microchip, Deworming, heartworm test (if over 8 months), monthly flea/heartworm prevention to date, grooming, full veterinary examination, and temperament evaluation.

All SOAR dogs go through a ten-day quarantine period to ensure they are healthy, before being adopted. We do not operate on a first come first serve basis, but screen applicants in order to find the best fit for our adoptable dogs.

In addition to their remarkable abilities, shepherds are often characterized by their distinctive appearance, including a sturdy build, alert expression, and a signature double coat that provides insulation and protection in various climates.
