DESCRIPTION
Rex has had a lot to overcome in a very short amount of time
He arrived at AHS South as a stray after likely being hit by a car, with a severe injury to his back leg. He was quickly transported to AHS in Newark, where one of our head veterinarians performed an amputation to relieve his pain. After surgery, Rex made his way to Tinton Falls, where he is now trying to recover and figure out what comes next. And all of this has happened in less than two weeks.
So if Rex seems tired, stressed, or unsure right now, we don't blame him. He's been through a traumatic experience, multiple shelter environments, transportation, surgery, and another big change in a very short period of time. We're not really meeting the Rex we hope to know yet. What we do know is that this boy is resilient. Despite everything, he's already adjusting to life on three legs and doing his best to keep moving forward.
Rex would love an adopter, but a foster home would make a huge difference too. He needs somewhere quiet and comfortable where he can rest, recover, and finally have a chance to decompress. Stop by to meet him today!

ABOUT: MIXED BREED DOG BREED
The mixed breed dogs, often referred to as mutts, are a diverse and unique group with a blend of different characteristics from various purebred dog breeds. These dogs come from a mixture of lineages, resulting in a wide range of sizes, coat types, and temperaments. While each mixed breed dog is distinct in its own right, they are known for their resilience, adaptability, and often have fewer health issues compared to purebred dogs due to their genetic diversity. Mixed breed dogs make wonderful companions for families looking for a loyal and one-of-a-kind pet.
The shepherd dog breed encompasses a versatile group known for their intelligence, loyalty, and strong work ethic. With a heritage deeply rooted in herding and protecting livestock, shepherds excel at various tasks ranging from obedience and agility competitions to search and rescue missions. Their protective nature makes them excellent family pets, offering unwavering devotion and a natural instinct to watch over and care for their loved ones. In addition to their remarkable abilities, shepherds are often characterized by their distinctive appearance, including a sturdy build, alert expression, and a signature double coat that provides insulation and protection in various climates.
