DESCRIPTION
Hi, my name is Sage,
Female - pending spay
German Shepherd Mix
Approx. 4 years old
I found myself at the Georgina Animal Shelter & Adoption Centre on March 3, 2026, after being discovered as a stray in Newmarket. Thankfully, I was brought to safety just in time, considering my condition. I was extremely underweight and emaciated, weighing only 15.1 kg, whereas a healthy adult German Shepherd like me should weigh between 23 to 29 kg.
Due to my emaciated state, I needed a special re-feeding plan. This meant that food had to be reintroduced to me slowly, as too much too quickly could lead to health issues. To help me recover, I was placed in a wonderful foster home, where I now live happily with a husky dog friend and a loving foster family that includes two children. They all adore me and are helping prepare me for my perfect adoptive family.
I'm now at a healthy weight of 26.1 kg and ready to find my forever home. I've had a rough past, so I need some time to build confidence and trust. But once I do, I'm a huge love-bug! I love racing around the backyard and going for pleasant walks. I've also developed a quirky habit-my foster family says I munch on dandelions during our walks like they're candy!
I would thrive best in a calm, structured home where I can continue to build my confidence and trust. I'd love a family who understands the importance of taking things slow and not overwhelming me too quickly. Don't worry-I'll let you know when I'm ready for all the love and affection I truly deserve.
