Meet Lyra!

Sweet Lyra is a 10-month-old puppy who is looking for something she has never really had before—a forever home filled with love, patience, and security.

Lyra came to our shelter after being captured roaming the streets of Boonville, MO, alongside her momma and two sisters. When they arrived, it was clear that this little family had been through some hard times. Lyra looked like she had missed more than a few meals, but thankfully, she and her family are now safe with us, and we are working hard to get them healthy, happy, and feeling their very best.

When Lyra first arrived, she and her family were VERY scared of people. They weren't mean, aggressive, or difficult—they simply didn't understand humans and weren't sure if they could trust us.

But slowly, day by day, Lyra is learning that maybe humans aren't so scary after all.

She is gaining weight, feeling better, and showing us more and more of her sweet personality. She absolutely LOVES spending time outside and has a blast playing with her sisters and momma. Watching this little family go from scared and unsure to playing and enjoying life has been so rewarding!

Of all her siblings, Lyra is probably the least shy, but she is still a very reserved girl. She will need someone who understands that trust doesn't happen overnight. She needs a family willing to give her the time, patience, consistency, and unconditional love she deserves.

Lyra may not be the puppy who runs up and jumps into your lap on day one—but with the right person, we believe that little girl who has been hiding behind her fear is going to blossom into an amazing companion.
