Meet Tessa!

A happy-go-lucky almost seven-year-old Shepherd/Rottweiler mix currently in Long Beach, CA, whose playful spirit and goofy charm come wrapped in a beautiful black-and-tan coat.

At 48 pounds, Tessa is a medium-sized girl with a smart mind, an affectionate heart, and a personality made for sharing adventures! She loves companionship and would be compatible with an active individual or family who enjoys walks, fresh air, and spending plenty of time together. Give her something to learn, somewhere to explore, and someone to keep her company, and this clever girl is ready to join the fun!

Tessa already has some impressive skills under her collar. She has received formal obedience training, knows sit, shake, and stay, comes when called, is house-trained, and is crate trained. She is especially impressive when walking with her professional trainer, where she calmly encounters the world without reactivity. That success shows how beautifully she responds to calm, confident handling and provides a wonderful foundation for continuing to build her confidence through positive reinforcement.

When unfamiliar dogs or people appear on walks, Tessa can sometimes bark to create a little extra space. She was not heavily socialized with other dogs early on, so unfamiliar encounters can leave her uncertain. Her response is to retreat rather than escalate, and she has no bite history. At home, she lives comfortably with a much smaller canine companion, although she does not generally seek out other dogs. Her experience with children and cats is limited, so thoughtful introductions would be important.

Thunderstorms, fireworks, and other loud noises can make Tessa nervous, and her crate provides a reassuring place where she can settle. She also feels nervous when left alone for short periods. Mild environmental and food allergies require mindful care, while her daily Dentastix help support her dental routine. She is spayed, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations.

Most of all, Tessa is an affectionate goofball who brings intelligence, playfulness, and cheerful companionship to everyday life! Her next chapter needs a caring family ready to keep her active, nurture her confidence, appreciate her quirks, and enjoy plenty of laughs along the way.
