What we know: Litter of 6 (3F, 3M) transferred from Raton Humane Society in New Mexico where they came in as owner surrenders. Transferred at approximately 11 weeks old.
*My litter is scheduled for spay/neuter on 5/14 and expected to be available on 5/16*
From the foster: Hello from Daisy!!!!
This little lady came into the world with a big personality and an even bigger heart - she just needs a moment to show it.
At 8 weeks old, this petite short-haired dachshund mix is at the very beginning of her story. One look into her deep, dark, soulful eyes and you'll understand exactly who she is - gentle, feeling, and full of love. She's soft, snuggly, and impossibly sweet once she feels safe - the kind of pup who will burrow into your lap and sigh with contentment like she's been waiting for you her whole (short) life.
Her tenderness isn't just reserved for the humans she trusts. Watch her with her littermate and you'll see her true nature on full display - gentle, attentive, and kind. She looks out for the ones she loves. That's just who she is at her core.
She's looking for a patient family who understands shy dogs. When she first meets new people, her nerves take over - she may bark, vocalize loudly, nip, or have a little accident. This isn't bad behavior; it's fear talking. She's a sensitive soul who needs time and a calm introduction before she can let her guard down. And when she does? She blooms into the most affectionate, loving little companion.
She's a great fit for a home that:
Has experience with anxious or fearful dogs
Can commit to positive, patient socialization during this critical puppy window
Doesn't have very young children who may startle her
Will give her a quiet, predictable environment to build confidence
With the right family, this girl has every potential to grow into a confident, devoted companion. She's not for everyone - but for the right person, she will be everything.

ABOUT: MIXED BREED DOG BREED
The mixed breed dogs, often referred to as mutts, are a diverse and unique group with a blend of different characteristics from various purebred dog breeds. These dogs come from a mixture of lineages, resulting in a wide range of sizes, coat types, and temperaments. While each mixed breed dog is distinct in its own right, they are known for their resilience, adaptability, and often have fewer health issues compared to purebred dogs due to their genetic diversity. Mixed breed dogs make wonderful companions for families looking for a loyal and one-of-a-kind pet.
The shepherd dog breed encompasses a versatile group known for their intelligence, loyalty, and strong work ethic. With a heritage deeply rooted in herding and protecting livestock, shepherds excel at various tasks ranging from obedience and agility competitions to search and rescue missions. Their protective nature makes them excellent family pets, offering unwavering devotion and a natural instinct to watch over and care for their loved ones. In addition to their remarkable abilities, shepherds are often characterized by their distinctive appearance, including a sturdy build, alert expression, and a signature double coat that provides insulation and protection in various climates.
