Shepherd and Mixed Breed Dogs Available for Adoption in Ellicott City, Maryland

Meet Kourtney — a beautiful black pup with stunning brown markings on her feet that shimmer in the sunlight and hint at a unique, leopard-like pattern as she grows. She’s as special in personality as she is in looks!

Kourtney is playful, affectionate, and a total cuddle bug who thinks she’s a lap dog. She loves to nuzzle into your neck and fall asleep, and she’s always ready for a game — especially if tennis balls are involved. She gets along wonderfully with other dogs and kids, making her a great fit for a family home.

She’s working on potty training and already understands “outside,” “potty,” and “time to eat,” showing how smart and eager to learn she is. Kourtney has been a joy to foster and will make a loving, fun companion for a lucky family.

The K litter and their mom came to us from our local rescue partner, BARCS.

THIS dog is NOT in the shelter. For puppies in foster care, you MUST submit an application via EMAIL to smpetfinder@gmail.com. Please note in the email subject which puppy you are interested in.

The more information you provide, the faster the process is for all of us. Once you are approved to adopt, we will schedule an appointment to see the puppy in person and you will adopt and take it home that day.

Due to the (usual) speed and ease of our adoption process, PLEASE ONLY APPLY IF YOU ARE READY TO ADOPT RIGHT NOW. If you are not ready to adopt within the next couple of days, we totally understand - just wait to apply until you are ready.

Adoption Fees:

Before our dogs are available for adoption, they will always be spayed/neutered, vaccinated (Distemper, Parvovirus, Bordetella, Rabies as much as age-appropriate), stool sample checked for parasites, and dewormed.

Adoption fee for our dogs is $375, $40 for a microchip and registration and $25 for a 3 month supply of heartworm preventative, for a TOTAL of $440.

The mixed breed dogs, often referred to as mutts, are a diverse and unique group with a blend of different characteristics from various purebred dog breeds. Mixed breed dogs make wonderful companions for families looking for a loyal and one-of-a-kind pet.

With a heritage deeply rooted in herding and protecting livestock, shepherds excel at various tasks ranging from obedience and agility competitions to search and rescue missions. Their protective nature makes them excellent family pets, offering unwavering devotion and a natural instinct to watch over and care for their loved ones. In addition to their remarkable abilities, shepherds are often characterized by their distinctive appearance, including a sturdy build, alert expression, and a signature double coat that provides insulation and protection in various climates.
