DESCRIPTION
At least ten years old. Found as a stray. Malnourished. Limited vision. Limited hearing. Unlimited LOVE. Meet Mabel
A good Samaritan found her wandering on her own. She was extremely matted and very hungry. She was also loving and receptive to everyone at the shelter and has stolen all of our hearts immediately.
Mabel is so sweet and soaks up all affection. There just aren't enough positive adjectives to describe all the good things about her. Plus, her face is the most adorable face we have ever seen.
She doesn't seem too interested in toys but Mabel loves treats. She loves to be around people but she also loves to explore cautiously! She doesn't seem to know that she has limited senses and it sure doesn't hold her back from enjoying her life!
We would love to see Mabel adopted by someone who will allow her to live her life to the fullest! She loves walkies! She loves to sniff! Yes, she will need additional precautions provided in and out of the home to keep her protected; but she's quite capable!
If there are other furry friends in the home, they will need to be neutral and non-reactive. Mabel has done great meeting other dogs but bumps into them unknowingly sometimes and she cannot read their body language. So, resident dogs (and cats!) will have to be gentle and able to co-exist calmly so she stays safe. We've not observed her around kiddos but think that as long as they are old enough to be respectful of her, Mabel may do well!
Mabel weighs about 52 pounds. She is not currently spayed and will be adopted out with a spay rider. Mabel will need to be brought back to MHS when we have a spay date for her.
We know she will bring an endless amount of love and joy into a very lucky home. Mabel is waiting to meet you at Michiana Humane Society
