Meet Saro: a 3-year-old, 52-pound Rottweiler mix with the heart of a teddy bear, the soul of a professional nap enthusiast, and the snack-detection skills of a highly trained kitchen security officer.

His backstory may be a little mysterious (unknown), but his personality is crystal clear: Saro is sweet, silly, easygoing, and fully prepared to charm his way into your home—and possibly toward any unattended food.

Saro’s ideal day includes a pleasant neighborhood stroll, a little yard zooming with dog friends, some toy time, several well-earned treats, and an extremely committed nap near his people. He is not auditioning to be anyone’s marathon partner or mountain-climbing sidekick; he prefers leisurely adventures, cozy floors, and a lifestyle that respects the importance of resting after his adventures.

When it comes to manners, Saro is a superstar. He is house-trained, walks beautifully on leash without pulling, rides well in the car, shares toys, and has no resource guarding concerns.

He can be a little unsure when visitors first arrive, so he will need thoughtful introductions, but a few treats is usually all it takes to turn him into a welcoming committee with a wagging tail. Belly rubs are also accepted as a perfectly reasonable introduction if requested.

Saro gets along well with other dogs, has been friendly and curious with the cat in his foster home, and is happy both playing with companions and doing his own independent dog-business.

He does not enjoy crate time, but he is perfectly content relaxing loose in the home when left alone. His main dining preference is simple: meals should arrive in a slow-feeder mat, because Saro believes every meal is exciting enough to eat at top speed.

This gentle goofball would thrive with an adopter who appreciates a loyal sidekick, a calm presence, a pleasantly silly personality, and a dog who is always ready for affection—but never demands the spotlight.
