Great family petNala
- Spayed Female - Lab/Rottie Mix - Black & Tan - 7 years - 75 pounds
We've had Nala out in foster homes and she's fine with a large docile great dane - but she is not good with other dogs. She challenges them for resources. The Gr Dane she's fine with doesn't challenge her back and just doesn't care, so they are fine. She's also too interested in cats.
Nala is great with all humans - even children (videos included). So any home as an only dog would suit her best.
Some input from her foster over Easter:
Nala was a rock star today. She was great with the kids and got to hang out outside while we did an egg hunt and multiple crafts. My mom's back porch is right off the kitchen so she hung out on the porch bird watching while we made food and ate. She got lots of belly rubs and attention. Also, she's very good at letting you know when she needs to go potty. She will go to the door and whine and hasn't had a single accident inside.
She went with me on another car ride today and loves putting her head out the window and the wind blowing on her face. She also got to see my neighbor's donkey and pony which was very interesting to her. When she first got here to foster, she never left my side. We've done short intervals of her being crated while I'm home and she doesn't try to break out, just whines and
eventually settles down. Now she's doing better and is OK when I leave her alone.
Nala surprised me yesterday. I left my office door open and I found her snuggled up in her crate all on her own. She is very food motivated. She likes to let me know when it's dinner time and waits patiently for her treat after going outside to potty.
Nala did so wonderful last night! She slept in her crate all night and never whined. She's been by my side all day and we got to take a little walk in the yard. Made some mashed sweet potatoes for her lick mat as well which she loved.
Nala did great w/the newborn, now 11 month old in the home. Also been around kids ages from 2-7.
A note from the vet after her wellness exam:
--
Nala does have atrophy in her left rear leg. This is from chronic arthritis. She's actually acclimated to her left leg "pain" and has full range of motion and isn't sensitive to it.
