Axel presents a very striking image of what most people expect of a Ridgeback. At 100+ pounds he is tall and lean, graceful in motion and stunning in appearance from any profile. There is still a lot of puppy in him despite his young age, and he is eager to play. He is starting to show the maturity of an adult Ridgeback and is often content to lay by your side.
For one so young, he is well traveled. Born in Alabama, he grew up in New York and for the past year has lived in Texas. Although strong of character he can be quite sensitive and nervous at times. He does not like loud noises or being startled. Though he is a tough Ridgeback he has a very low pain tolerance where his feet are concerned, so extreme care should be taken when trimming nails. He has had problems with this in the past and it is well imprinted on his consciousness.
Axel will need a strong and experienced Ridgeback owner who can understand and respect his nature. He has basic training which should be continued to develop his full potential.
If you have experience with the breed and are looking for a good dog, Axel may be a good candidate. If you ae not looking for a dog but would like to contribute to his care while he is in TIRR’s care please visit our website. www.tirrrescue.org
