Pancake - Rat Terrier Dog for Adoption in Alafaya, Florida

Hi, I'm Pancake! I'm a 12-lb, 1-year-old Rat Terrier (Rattie). I believe snuggles, fun, and lots of playtime are all part of a complete breakfast. Whichever lucky family adopts me should know that I come with sides of goofiness, resilience, and boundless love.

Favorite Things: This little guy loves other dogs of all shapes and sizes. Recently, he has really come out of this shell and learning that people are there to love him, too. He is now coming to humans for love and attention, although he's also independent and happy doing his own thing. He's still learning to play with toys and hasn't shown too much interest in them so far.

Training and Manners: Pancake is housetrained if let out frequently. He needs more practice walking on a leash, but he sleeps in his dog bed at night, is a good passenger on car rides, and generally has good basic manners.

Health and Care: Pancake is a healthy boy! He is up-to-date on vaccines, microchipped, and neutered. He just needs his monthly flea and heartworm preventatives, like any dog. As a short-haired guy, he shouldn't need much elaborate grooming, either.

Other Animals: This friendly fellow would love a house with another dog who loves to play. He does well around dogs of all sizes: they help him become more confident. He hasn't been observed around cats yet, but his foster thinks he'd get along with them, too.

Children: Pancake has not been observed around children yet.

Ideal Home: This little guy may bark initially when left alone, but he quickly settles down. Therefore, he would do well in an apartment, condo, or single-family home, wherever there is a patient person who loves him and will look after him. Because he is still working on his leash-training skills, if he is adopted by a family in an apartment, they will need to be patient to get him enough exercise.

Overall: This affectionate, clever, goofy, resilient Rattie will make a great companion for someone who can show him how awesome a dog's life is supposed to be.
