Meet Toby!
Do you like the feeling of being adored, of being the center of someone's universe, of feeling like you are the best thing since sardines on top of kibble? Toby might just be your guy.
This 9-year-old gent was the king of his castle for his whole life prior to coming into rescue. He has made some improvements with sharing his person's attention with the other dogs in his foster home, but if he could speak, he would tell you he did not want to. Toby is fed separately from the other dogs due to his reactivity and resource guarding. We get it; he's just not used to sharing.
What he does love very much is soaking up love and affection. He likes to get morning hugs, laze around in the sun, play with toys and hang out in his bed. Bonus skill badge; Toby can jump onto a chair and across the table to get to his person! He is a friendly guy when meeting new people and has done well with visiting children over 10 years of age. Toby plays well with other dogs, it's all about sharing for him. He doesn't want to. He could absolutely be an only dog or he could cohabitate with another dog who is submissive and independent.
Toby was just neutered. House training is still a work in progress, but he is crate trained and does well on leash. Once he adapts to the hormonal changes post neuter and gets into a routine, we think he will make big strides. He is a very smart boy and knows sit, stay, come and leave it. He is food motivated which is always helpful when working on training.
Toby has a history of allergies with noted flea dermatitis in his medical history. His skin is improving but was flaky with some crusty areas. He is currently taking an antibiotic for a crusty bump on his foot which we will follow up on if the treatment is not effective. He is a very good boy for grooming. An opportunity for more love and affection from his person. He is all about it! Like many older pugs, Toby has some hearing loss, and his eyes are a bit cloudy, we think it adds to his charm. Fear not, it does not slow him down or stop him from finding the treat.

His ideal life would be with a person or couple that is focused on him. He would love people for himself, a nice, fenced yard to explore and lots of affection."
ADOPTION FEE: $550.00 ~ $400 based on age plus $150 neuter fee
ADOPTION REQUIREMENTS FOR TOBY
Only dog or a docile companion
Dog friendly cats ok
Dog savvy children age 12 and older
Fenced yard preferred, not mandated
Work from home, retired or staggered schedule to allow for no greater than 4 hour window
Patience and commitment to continued work on house training
Commitment to providing all necessary medical care to include annual wellness visits and heartworm flea and tick preventative.

Our mission is simple: we find homes for abandoned and surrendered pugs in New England. Our pugs will be UTD on shots and spayed or neutered prior to adoption. You must be a resident of the New England states. Due to a change in state regulations, we are no longer adopting outside of New England.
PRoNE is supported by adoption fees, donations and funds raised through auctions and events. Adoption fees range from $200-$1,000 which is based on age of the dog. Effective in January 2023, we have imposed a $150 Spay/Neuter Fee (if required) and a $500 Transportation Fee (For dogs requiring air/cargo travel). Pug Mixes will be discounted by $100 off the fee for their age range. Pairs and Triples will be discounted by $50 per dog.
