Rue’s story didn’t begin with soft beds, belly rubs, or people she could trust.

This sweet 7-year-old girl came to us from a rural shelter after being rescued from a large hoarding case. For most of her life, human kindness was something she barely got to experience. Because of that, Rue is still learning that people can be safe, patient, and loving.

She is not aggressive in any way. Not even a little. In fact, Rue’s survival strategy is simply to run away when she’s scared. She wants so badly to feel safe… she just doesn’t quite know how yet.

Rue will need a calm, patient, experienced adopter who understands that trust is earned in tiny moments. Someone who will celebrate the little victories:

✨ The first time she stays nearby
✨ The first time she realizes she doesn’t have to be afraid anymore
