Ollie & Sushi: A Bond Like No Other
Ollie is the definition of a lap dog, loves to be on top of you. He is a sweet snuggle bug and gives lots of kisses. He helps his brother Ollie find his way on walks and in new places. Ollie and Sushi get along great and play with each other. He is good on walks and waits for Sushi to catch up. He sleeps great in his playpen. He has had a few accidents, but he will utilize the pee pad. He is beginning to get the hang of going out on walks. He prefers the elevator over the stairs. He gets scared of the door that opens to the staircase and has to be carried along with his brother.
At just 1 year and 4 months old, Ollie and Sushi are more than brothers—they are best friends, constant companions, and each other's greatest source of comfort. They were born together, have spent their entire lives together, and when life changed unexpectedly, they were surrendered together. Through it all, they have never left each other's side.
Sushi is blind in both eyes, but you might not even realize it when you meet him. He has learned to navigate the world with incredible resilience and confidence. When entering a new space, he takes a few moments to sniff, map out his surroundings, and figure out where everything is. Once he does, he moves around with surprising ease. He loves leisurely walks, relaxing outside in the sunshine, and has the sweetest habit of doing little circles when he's excited or happy. While new noises, people, and environments can make him a bit cautious at first, gentle reassurance and a little patience help him quickly realize he's safe.
That's where Ollie comes in. Ollie naturally watches over his brother with quiet devotion. On walks, he patiently leads the way, checking in and waiting for Sushi to catch up. In unfamiliar places, his calm presence gives Sushi confidence. It's not something he was taught—it's simply the bond they share. Watching them together is incredibly touching. Ollie helps Sushi navigate the world, and Sushi gives Ollie a sense of purpose and companionship that only a lifelong best friend can provide.
Both boys are fully potty trained, sleep quietly through the night in their playpen, are comfortable in their crates, and are learning that home life is pretty wonderful. Sushi will give a little whine when he needs to go outside, while Ollie will stand by the door and give you an unmistakable look. They are both highly food motivated (though Sushi can be a bit of a snack connoisseur and has opinions about his treats!). Once they trust you, they transform into the ultimate lap dogs who want nothing more than to snuggle close, shower you with kisses, and soak up all the love they can get.
Because they have spent their entire lives together, keeping Ollie and Sushi as a bonded pair is incredibly important. Sushi gains confidence from having his brother nearby, but this isn't a one-way relationship. Ollie relies on Sushi too. They play together, sleep together, explore together, and provide comfort and security for one another. Separating them would mean losing the one constant they've always had.
For anyone wondering what it's like to care for a blind dog, the answer is surprisingly simple: not much different than caring for any other dog. Sushi doesn't require special medical care or constant assistance. He simply benefits from consistency, a little extra patience in new environments, and allowing him time to learn his surroundings. Once he has them figured out, he thrives. His blindness isn't what defines him—his sweet personality, gentle spirit, and unwavering love do.
If you're looking for two devoted companions who will fill your home with love, cuddles, and a daily reminder of the incredible bond animals can share, Ollie and Sushi are waiting to meet you. They have been through every chapter of life together, and they deserve a forever home where they can continue their journey side by side.
