Sophie - Plott Hound Dog for Adoption in Commerce, Texas

Sophie is such a special girl who ended up at the shelter when her owner passed away and then no one in the family was willing to take her. She was so quiet and sad at the shelter. She also developed a urinary tract infection and a cough. We think the stress and noise of the shelter was hard on Sophie. A foster offered to take her home and treat her medical needs. We know Sophie is great with cats, other dogs larger and smaller than she is. She is completely house trained and uses a doggy door. Her favorite pass time is following her foster mom around the house and yard. She also loves laying her head on your lap for a bit of petting, sleeping on a soft bed, being near you, a short game of tug and car rides. Sophie is a true gem for someone who wants a settled easy to have around dog and doesn't want to deal with all that puppy wildness. Sophie doesn't jump on you and would be a great fit for a retired couple who are home a lot or someone that works from home. We must mention that she can climb a 4 foot chain link fence and will when her foster mom isn't home but she stays in the yard or on the driveway waiting for her to return. She is completely trustworthy in the house and can be left in the house so she doesn't go over the fence. She would do great with a wooden fence around her back yard or even a home in the country. We feel like she was a country dog and was used to following her owner down the road whenever they left in the car and then returning to the house to wait for them to come back.
