Meet Wonkey Donkey! At about 11 months old and 35 pounds, Wonky is a petite Pittie/Staffy-type puppy with a giant heart, an even bigger tongue, and absolutely no concept of personal space. He is a bulldozer of love who will happily shove his way into your lap, flop onto your feet, and cuddle as close as physically possible.
Wonky has only been with his foster family a short time, but he's already decided that everyone is his friend. He especially adores his foster family's 8-year-old, immediately melting into him for cuddles. He has been wonderfully gentle with everyone he's met and is a sweet, affectionate boy who just wants to love his people.
Wonky is currently waiting for bilateral luxating patella surgery, so his activity is limited right now. Once his knees are repaired and he has recovered, he should be ready to show off the typical puppy energy that is currently hiding underneath all those cuddles! He is incredibly gentle when being carried in and out of the car or up and down stairs and handles his current limitations like a champ.
He has met a cat and handled the introduction beautifully. The cat stared at him, Wonky stared back, and eventually the cat wandered off-at which point Wonky basically said, "Cool!" and went on with his day. No drama, no chasing, no hard feelings.
He is still learning his puppy manners, including that hands are not chew toys and that toys are a much better choice for his mouth. He already knows how to sit and is picking up the routines of foster life nicely. Potty training is going well, and he has learned to let his foster know when he needs to head outside.
Wonky is also a surprisingly good kennel guy. He goes in easily, settles quietly, and is perfectly content to hang out, nap, and observe the household. He'll even calmly watch the other dogs get their turn outside without making a fuss. He enjoys checking in with his canine roommates and has a reputation for loving to play with dogs who can keep up with his enthusiasm once he's feeling better.
And then there's the tongue. It is apparently much too big for his mouth and is almost always hanging out, giving this already goofy boy the perfect derpy finishing touch.
Wonkey Donkey is a gentle, loving puppy who is just getting started on his journey. He's ready to get his knees fixed, learn some good puppy manners, and eventually discover what it's like to run, play, and zoom around like the puppy he knows he is. In the meantime, he'll happily settle for cuddles, feet to lie on, grass and flowers to nibble, car rides, and maybe-if you're willing to share-a little treat.
