MEET WIGGINS!

4 months old • Male • Mixed Breed • Medium-sized

Wiggins has been fighting for his happy ending since he was only a couple of weeks old — and this goofy, bunny-eared boy has come SO far.

Wiggins had a very difficult start to life. He was born with liver shunts, which caused neurological issues early on. Thankfully, he has overcome almost all of those challenges and is absolutely thriving! He doesn’t require ongoing medication or treatment — he just operates a little differently sometimes, and honestly, that’s part of what makes Wiggins... Wiggins.

This boy has TWO speeds:

ZOOM!
and
Get in your lap immediately.

Wiggins is a high-energy puppy who LOVES running laps around the yard, playing with toys, chasing balls that he may or may not bother bringing back, and playing tug-of-war. A home with a yard and an active family would be perfect for him.

But once playtime is over? Wiggins becomes a professional couch potato. He loves soft pillows, nesting in blankets, and curling up right beside — or directly ON — his person while they watch TV.

And did we mention the BUNNY EARS?!

Wiggins is also one smart little guy! He is:

House-trained
Crate-trained — although he may grumble about it
Working on leash manners
Knows sit, stay and lay down
Comfortable being left alone
Very treat motivated
Great with dogs of all sizes
Familiar with cats
Friendly with both men and women
Always excited to meet new people and new dog friends

His favorite treats aren’t even traditional dog treats — this boy LOVES carrots and strawberries!

Because Wiggins gets SO excited, sometimes his excitement comes out through his mouth. He may “maw” or nibble at hands when he’s happy or overstimulated. A firm “no” usually redirects him right back to licking. This isn’t aggression — he’s still a puppy learning how to control all that excitement.

For that reason, we think Wiggins would do best in a home without very young children. He does well with kids when supervised, but his grumbling and excited puppy nibbles could understandably make little ones nervous.

He grew up around cats and enjoys them, but now that he’s bigger, he sometimes forgets they aren’t puppies. His play with cats and very small dogs should be supervised because he can get a little too enthusiastic.

Wiggins can initially be nervous somewhere unfamiliar, but his curiosity quickly takes over. He’s happy, playful and always willing to try something new.

After everything this little guy faced during his first weeks of life, seeing him run around a yard, attack his toys, snuggle into a pile of blankets and climb into someone’s lap is pretty incredible.

Wiggins doesn’t need someone to feel sorry for him.

He needs someone ready to enjoy him.

Someone active. Someone patient. Someone who understands that he’s still a puppy learning his manners. Someone who will give him room to run, toys to play with, laps to climb into and all the carrots and strawberries his little heart desires.

Most of all, Wiggins needs a family who will look at those ridiculous bunny ears and say:

“Yep. You’re ours.”
