Diesel is a neutered, 6 month old, puppy. He was 29 lbs when he was neutered at the end of July. He likely needs an update on vaccinations as he did not get any at the time of neuter as his family said he had, had them prior to them getting him.
His family says he's a pit bull/lab. Diesel's family are looking to rehome him as his not a good fit for a busy family with young children. He is high energy and can be bitey when aroused. They received him from someone else who said he was good with kids, but he is too much and too rough for small children.
His family says.
"He is good with kids aside from the nibbling when playing, he is friendly and super playful and hyper, his cons are pooping in the house, he pees outside but won't poop out there, he has recently started chewing on stuff and I cant seem to get him to stop, he barks when in his crate while I am at work and howls, I was hoping to keep him and be able to train him however I dont have the time he needs, overall I know he can be a very good dog he just needs the right environment and trainer."
In additional information we know
- Not leash trained
- Will need some redirection with house training. It could be that he does not feel safe to go outside.
- He has been crated, but not sure if he feels safe in that, so crate training may have to start from scratch if the cue has been ruined by having anxiety in the crate.
- Seems afraid of other dogs. So likely has not had much exposure
- No experience in this home with cats or other small animals.
- He is going through a chew phase. So when not attended will have to be crated or somewhere safe.
- You should be open to having a trainer or assistance getting Diesel on a structured schedule.
We have not assessed Diesel. He is a private adoption, but we would recommend he go to an adult or older child home 12+. He needs consistency and time and with his energy level, it would be difficult for a family who is already busy with children to find the extra time and resources to ensure he gets on the right path. He is only still a baby dog and it takes time a consistency to raise puppies to adults and smart, energetic dogs require a committed handler.
