Meet Harper! A Sweet, Playful Girl Looking for Her Forever Home!

Harper is an adorable, affectionate, and cheerful one-year-old girl with a heartbreaking beginning and so much love to give! She's already overcome more than any puppy should have to, and now she's hoping to find a forever family who will give her the stability, patience, and unconditional love she deserves.

Harper's story began when she was found abandoned on the side of the road as a puppy. Sadly, she came from a litter whose owner reportedly turned the puppies loose and threatened to shoot them if they returned. Thankfully, a kindhearted person stepped in to help, and Harper eventually found herself in a loving home where she has spent the past several months learning what it means to be safe, cared for, and loved.

Since arriving in her current home in July, Harper has made incredible progress! She is now fully housebroken, knows how to use a dog door, has learned to sit, and is developing great recall skills. She's also wonderful on a leash!

But what really makes Harper special is her personality. She's an incredibly friendly, affectionate, sweet, and happy girl who absolutely adores people. She loves attention, enjoys being close to her humans, and has a playful, cheerful spirit that's hard not to fall in love with.

Harper also loves playing with other dogs! She gets along beautifully with the larger resident dog in her home and enjoys playing with the neighbors' dogs. She has also lived peacefully with cats.

So why is Harper looking for a new home?

Unfortunately, Harper and one of the smaller resident dogs have not been getting along. Although she does well with other dogs, she has experienced conflicts with this particular dog, especially involving food, resting areas, and certain spaces in the home.

Because of her difficult beginning, Harper also exhibits some resource guarding around food. This is something her future family will need to understand and manage with patience, consistency, and positive reinforcement.

Her current family loves her dearly and has worked hard to help her thrive, but they recognize that their home is not the right long-term environment for everyone to live together safely.

Harper would do best in a home without small dogs. She may enjoy living with a compatible larger dog, provided introductions are handled thoughtfully and everyone has their own space and resources. She would also be perfectly happy as the only dog, soaking up all the love and attention!

Her ideal family will understand that she's still young and learning. They'll continue reinforcing her training, provide structure and consistency, and help her build confidence as she settles into her new life.

Harper is healthy, has no known medical conditions, and does not require any medications. She is scheduled to be spayed and receive her first round of vaccinations on October 14. Her current family is generously covering those expenses and will also provide food and flea prevention medication to help her transition into her new home.

Harper isn't looking for a perfect family. She's looking for the right family.

She's still young, eager to learn, full of personality, and has already shown just how much she can blossom when someone gives her a chance. Her current family wants nothing more than to see this sweet girl find a safe, loving home where she can continue growing into the wonderful companion she's becoming.

Harper is located in the Medford, Oregon area, and her adoption fee has been waived for an approved home and transport is available within 300 miles of the Medford area.

If you're looking for an affectionate, playful, people-loving companion and have the right environment for Harper to thrive, we'd love to hear from you!

Could you be the happy ending to Harper's story?
