ROCKO - Pit Bull Terrier and Mixed Breed Dog for Adoption in Santa Cruz, California

Meet Rocko, the pittie mix. Rocko was initially adopted as a puppy from the Shelter but surrendered after his previous family was unable to continue caring for him. Typical to an adolescent pup his age, Rocko can be exuberant and excitable. He would thrive in an adoptive home that will meet his day to day mental and physical stimulation needs. He has lived with children but can be a bit bull in china shop. A home with older, sturdy children may be a fit. Rocko has not lived with dogs but had played with them. He can be a tactile player and not every dog’s cup of tea. Any resident dogs are required to meet at the Shelter prior to adoption. He does not have any history with felines. Rocko was house trained in his previous home. His guardians crated him at night and someone was usually home with him during the day. The Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter Foundation is now offering “Pawsitivity Bucks” with every dog adoption. This $200 training voucher is a way for newly adopted canines and their guardians to connect with local positive reinforcement based behavior consultants and get their relationship started off on the right paw! Please note: Our Santa Cruz location’s Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end “meet and greets” (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. If you’d like to meet an animal out of the kennel, please arrive before 4:00pm to allow for time to discuss individual animals and meet them.
