Meet Bucky, a sweet, Pitbull/Lab mix ready to find his forever home. Bucky is about 1.5 years old, and weighs around 55 pounds. This sweet little guy found himself as the Merced Animal Shelters longest resident, being there over 3 months!
Prior to foster care, Buckys front, right leg was injured. The shelter hoped Buckys leg would improve over time, but unfortunately never did. His leg was amputated in early June. Bucky is a resilient little guy, and has adapted well to his new status as a tri-pod. He may not be a great running companion, but enjoys short walks around the court, or a car ride to the park and does not let his leg slow him down.
In foster care, Bucky has been an excellent house guest! He appears potty trained, only having a few accidents during his few days at home. Bucky absolutely loves toys and enjoys completely emptying his toy bin around the house daily. He has not shown to be destructive, but will check tables to ensure no food has been left out.
At night, Bucky settles in quietly, sleeping through the night on a dog bed in the bedroom. Bucky is also working on crate training and making big improvements in just a short time.
At the shelter, Bucky tested well with both male and female dogs and is currently living happily with another dog. Bucky looks up to his foster dog brother, copying his every move and making sure to stay close to him throughout the day, so he may enjoy joining a family with an existing dog in the home.
Bucky is patiently waiting to meet his forever family. If you are interested in adopting Bucky, please complete our application at 1luckydogrescue.org or reach out to Patricia at olveiry@yahoo.com with a little information about the home youd offer Bucky.
