Meet Marley, a sweet and sensitive young girl (about 2 years old) who is just waiting for a calm, loving home to help her blossom! Marley came to the shelter with her canine companion Moose after their owner was unfortunately incarcerated and a family member could no longer care for them. While this change has been scary for her, Marley has shown again and again what a gentle, loving soul she truly is.
In the shelter, Marley can be shy and frightened at first, but she warms up quickly with patience, soft treats, and kind voices. Once she feels safe, her sweet personality shines-she wags her tail, seeks out affection, and enjoys gentle pets. Volunteers consistently describe her as very sweet, observant, and easy to handle. She walks beautifully on leash, has low-to-medium energy, and appears to be housebroken. Marley truly craves human attention and bonds nicely with her handlers once trust is built.
Marley has lived successfully with children and other dogs and would do well with a calm, respectful canine friend or as your one-and-only pup. However, she does have a prey drive and will need a cat-free home. With dogs and people, she is gentle, tolerant, and affectionate.
This lovely girl would thrive in a patient home that understands she may need a little time to settle in-but the reward is a loyal, loving companion who will melt into your heart. If you're looking for a soft, sweet, well-mannered dog who just needs a chance to feel safe again, Marley might be the perfect match for you.

On December 3, Marley's handler noted she is a good girl, just shy and scared.
On December 4, Marley's handler noted she is very observant, loves soft treats, and allowed light pets.
On December 6, Marley's handler noted Marley was a little scared at first but warmed up quickly. She wagged her tail. She is very sweet!
On December 7, Marley was walked twice. One handler noted she is so sweet. The second handler noted she was shy and scared but did so good on her walk.
On December 9, Marley's handler noted she is very sweet and she walked so well. She came right to the front of her kennel when it was time to go out.
On December 10, Marley was very happy, walked nicely on leash.
On December 12, Marley's handler noted she was a great walker on leash.
On December 13, Marley's handler noted she was scared and frightened.
On December 16th, Marley was noted to be very sweet and walks nicely on leash
On December 17th, Marley was noted to be low/medium energy, he saw a community cat and seemed to have a prey drive. Overall, he is very gentle and easy to walk. Craves human attention, housebroken, and very gentle with handler

Per volunteer 11/30/25: Meet bonded pair Moose and Marley, who came into the shelter when their owner was incarcerated and a family member brought them in. The person surrendering them said both dogs are fully housebroken, high energy, and good with strangers. In the shelter both dogs are quite scared at first but being so brave! They are both very sweet and affectionate with handlers and come out of their shell once they are out of the scary kennel.
Per volunteer 11/30/25: Both were pretty fearful for leashing and would cower back to the back of the kennel. Moose was a bit more confident and came forward to me once I dropped a few treats. Marley needed a bit more coaxing, and then needed moose to come to the front of the kennel to guide her out. On leash Moose pulls moderately and would recommend a harness. Moose is definitely more confident, and Marley is the more submissive of the two. When we saw dogs from afar or passed by, Moose got extremely overstimulated and would start pulling and gator rolling and lip licking. Used leash pressure to guide him away. Took him a few minutes to calm down inside. Went into behavior eval room- both solicited attention and Moose was very affectionate. Marley took pets after some time and got loose. Moose is quite jumpy. In the eval room they were very comfortable and loose! Both treat motivated and Marley takes them very gently while Moose is eager but still gentle. Moose likes to climb on Marley who is very tolerant. Moose needed me to get in the kennel with him in order for him to go back in. Marley returned with some leash pressure.

Per owner 11/26/25 (Was surrendered with another dog named Moose): Very good dogs, lived with adults, children and other dogs, crate trained/housebroken, active and high energy, has never bitten or tried to bite, good with strangers and children. When asked about cats and dogs, the owner wrote "no."
