Bodhi - Pit Bull Terrier and Basset Hound Dog for Adoption in Melbourne, Florida

Bodhi came into the shelter with a chain around his neck that had to be cut off.
The shelter environment was overwhelming for him at first, but once he had a chance to settle in and show us who he really is, we got to see the fun, goofy, loving, incredibly sweet boy underneath all that stress.

He is SO goofy, playful and HAPPY. Bodhi hasn’t paid much attention to the kitty in the house so far.

Bodhi has some learning to do, but he also has so much love, happiness and personality to give. We already know this goofy boy is going to make an AMAZING dog for one very lucky family someday.
For now, Bodhi gets to decompress, learn how to be the best house dog he can be, and enjoy something he came dangerously close to losing...
His future.

The Basset Hound is a unique and recognizable breed known for its long body, droopy ears, and soulful eyes. Originating from France, they were originally bred for hunting small game like rabbits due to their keen sense of smell and sturdy build. Despite their laid back and affectionate nature, Basset Hounds are also persistent and independent thinkers, which can make training a bit challenging. With their low energy levels and love for lounging, they make wonderful companion dogs for families seeking a loyal and easygoing pet.

The Pit Bull Terrier is a resilient and loyal breed known for its muscular build and loving nature. Originally bred for bull baiting and later dog fighting, Pit Bulls today are beloved family pets cherished for their gentle temperament and playful personality. With proper training and socialization, Pit Bull Terriers make affectionate companions that thrive on human interaction. Recognized for their strength and agility, these dogs require regular exercise and mental stimulation to channel their energy positively, reinforcing their reputation as devoted and trainable pets.
