At 2 years old and 50 pounds, this handsome black-and-tan Pit mix is the perfect pocket-sized package of love. With his squatty, lowrider build and big personality, Shakespeare is what we like to call the ultimate Velcro dog-wherever his people are, that's where he wants to be!
Shakespeare absolutely adores his humans and is convinced he's a lap dog. He loves giving affection just as much as he loves receiving it, and if you're looking for a pup who will happily stick by your side and shower you with kisses, Shakespeare is your guy.
He's also a social butterfly with other dogs! Shakespeare has gotten along wonderfully with every dog he's met so far. His favorite way to make new friends-whether two-legged or four-legged-is with a few enthusiastic kisses.
If you're looking for a loving, affectionate, dog-friendly companion who wants nothing more than to be part of your family, Shakespeare may be your perfect match. This lowrider may have short legs, but he has a huge heart!

Note: Shakespeare is heartworm positive. Heartworm treatment will be covered at no additional cost to the adopter.

Shakespeare is fully vaccinated, microchipped, & neutered. His adoption fee is $300.

Shakespeare is in the Paws in Prison program, where he receives basic obedience training. He will graduate from Paws in Prison on 10/17/2026. The dogs in this program are provided basic level training under the AKC Canine Good Citizen standards and are specifically selected to be family and companion dogs. They spend 24 hours a day with their trainers. So, there will be an adjustment period as they adjust to their new family schedule.

For this reason, they will do best in homes where they are primarily inside dogs and spend lots of time with their families. The adoptive family will receive his training journal. This journal documents his arrival from the shelter, daily training progress, and interactions with the trainers.
