Hi there! My name is Keela Bee, and I’m hoping you’re the person I’ve been waiting for!
Let me start by telling you something very important about me... I have been waiting a LONG time for my forever family. I spent over a year at the River Rouge Animal Shelter, and you know what? I actually did really well there! I had wonderful volunteers who cared for me, and I made the shelter feel like home. But now that I know what a foster home is like, I have decided I’m definitely ready for the next chapter of my life — a home of my very own!
I’m a beautiful brindle girl, under 50 pounds, and my foster mommy thinks I might be a hound/pittie mix... although I may have a few other surprises mixed in there! My DNA test is coming soon, so stay tuned!
I’m estimated to be about 212–3 years old, and my rescue vet will give me a better age estimate when I go for my checkup and vaccines in October.
I came from a home where my momma loved me and my furry sister very much, but she was having a difficult time taking care of herself, too. We sometimes ended up running loose, and eventually we needed help. I’m so thankful that help found me.
Now I have two foster fur siblings, Steve and Evie, and I do really well with them!
I would probably do best with dogs around my size or a little bigger. Small dogs aren't really my thing, and my foster mommy thinks I probably shouldn't live with kitties either.
I'm also a pretty smart girl! I know Speak, Give Me Five, Shake, Sit and Down. And I LOVE belly rubs.
I also have a very special relationship with tennis balls. You can throw five balls and I may look at you like, “Meh.”
Then you throw the sixth one and suddenly... THAT'S MY BALL! I will carry it around and squeak it to my heart's content.
I do have a little mischievous side, too. One day I saw the neighbor dogs in our yard and got so excited that I jumped up on the railing and knocked over foster mommy's BIG flower box... from a 16-foot drop!
Don't worry — everyone was okay, but foster mommy definitely learned that I can be a little creative when I want to be!
I was a picky eater when I first arrived, but I have since discovered that foster mommy is apparently very easy to train. Now I get half dry food, half Freshpet, Brutus Bone Broth, and a scoop of pumpkin. I may have her completely wrapped around my paw.
I even have my own room! It has a loveseat that belongs to ME and a window where I can keep an eye on everything happening out front. It's basically a Keela Bee Suite, and compared to the shelter, I feel like a queen!
I'm also a bit of a watchdog. I will let you know when I see or hear something interesting, but foster mommy says I do settle down when she tells me it’s okay.
After spending more than a year waiting, I am finally ready.
I'm looking for a family who will give me love, patience, fun and a forever home. A fenced-in yard would be wonderful because I love having room to run and play. Older children would probably be best for me — maybe 10+ years old — because I can get pretty excited and could accidentally knock over a little one. I haven't really been around young children, so we're still learning about that part of me.
So... if you're looking for a beautiful, fun, smart, slightly silly, brindle girl to call your own...
I think you may have just found me.
Please come meet me. Give me a belly rub. Throw me a few tennis balls. Let me show you my tricks.
And maybe — just maybe — you'll realize what I've been hoping for all this time.
YOU are my forever family.
Please Pick Me. I've been waiting for so long, and I promise I'll be a very good girl.
Love,
Keela Bee
