DESCRIPTION
Possum is a dog who is still learning that the world can be a safe and kind place. The shelter environment has been a lot for her to take in, and she has shown that she prefers to approach new situations carefully. Beneath that cautious exterior, however, is a dog who deserves the chance to find stability, comfort, and a family willing to let her settle in at her own pace. At around four years old, Possum is looking for someone who understands that trust is built one step at a time. Some dogs arrive at the shelter ready to make friends immediately, while others need a little space and patience before they feel comfortable. Possum appears to be in that second group. The reward for giving her that time can be incredibly special. Watching a dog gain confidence, relax, and begin to show her true personality is one of the most meaningful experiences adoption has to offer. Possum is hoping to find the person who will give her that opportunity. All adoptions include support from our adoption team to ensure a smooth transition from the shelter to your home. Adopted pets are vaccinated, microchipped, and spayed/neutered before leaving the shelter's care. To view our current available animals, please visit: https://indy.gov/activity/adopt-a-pet
