If there was ever a dog whose superpower was making people fall in love with her in record time, it's Mona Lisa. This sweet girl has one of those gentle souls that you can feel almost immediately. The kind that leans her whole body into you when you pet her. The kind that looks at you with soft eyes and seems genuinely grateful for every bit of affection she receives. Mona isn't loud, over-the-top, or demanding. She simply wants to be near her people and soak up all the love she can get, and trust us, it's impossible not to adore her.

Mona Lisais approximately 1.5 years old, weighs 54 lbs, and we believe she may be a Pittie/Lab mix. With rescue it's always a mystery, and we can never guarantee breed or age.
One of our favorite things about Mona is just how incredibly sweet and gentle she is. Everything about her feels soft. The way she takes treats carefully from your hand. The way she melts into affection. The way she quietly leans against you as if she's trying to get as close as physically possible. She has a calm, loving presence that makes being around her feel easy.
Mona is dog friendly and has done well with every dog we've introduced her to so far. She's spent time around dogs her size as well as dogs nearly five times smaller than she is and has been gentle and respectful with both. She's a submissive girl who may take a moment to get comfortable with a new dog, but once she settles in, her playful side starts to come out. Even then, she has a sweet, dainty play style that matches her gentle personality. While she enjoys canine companionship, she doesn't seem like a dog who needs another dog in the home to feel confident or happy. Honestly, Mona seems perfectly content being the center of your world and soaking up all the attention herself.
She also met our house cat Biggie and met him appropriately and was very respectful around him. Mona did not chase Biggie, nor was she bothered by Biggie jumping or doing what cats do. Biggie also felt comfortable around her as well. We do not know if she has ever lived in a home before with a cat and this was our first time seeing her with a cat. If you have a cat in the home, we can arrange for Mona to have a sleepover with a cat upon request. Just let us know!
Mona is also a wonderfully easy dog to live with. She is crate trained, walks right into her kennel on her own, and has been quiet and calm while crated. She is also potty trained and already knows some basic commands, including sit. She loves treats, takes them gently, and is eager to learn. If you're looking for a dog to join you on daily walks, Mona might be exactly who you've been searching for. She walks beautifully on leash and rarely pulls. Whether you're taking a leisurely stroll through the neighborhood, exploring a scenic trail, or simply enjoying a peaceful evening outside, Mona is happy to be right there beside you.
Mona has also spent time with children ranging from 5 to 14 years old and showed everyone just how sweet and tolerant she is. She happily accepted affection, gentle handling, and plenty of treats from the kids. We did notice that when things became especially loud or chaotic, Mona sometimes chose to quietly step away and observe from a more peaceful spot. She wasn't fearful and she wasn't upset. She simply seemed to prefer a calmer environment. Because of this, we think Mona would thrive in a home that matches her gentle nature with slightly older children.
Her ideal home would likely be one with a backyard in a residential neighborhood rather than an apartment in the middle of a busy city. Mona is the type of dog who seems to appreciate slower mornings, peaceful walks, cozy evenings, and a family that enjoys the simple things in life as much as she does.
If you've been looking for a loyal companion with a heart of gold, a gentle spirit, and enough love to last a lifetime, Mona might just be your girl.
We are willing to test Mona Lisa with anything you need in order to ensure it's a perfect match. We can make anything happen! Just let us know.
