If your idea of a perfect dog is one that's always up for an adventure, loves absolutely everyone he meets, and somehow manages to turn every puddle into the greatest thing he's ever seen... then you need to meet Jerry Joy.
This happy-go-lucky guy approaches life with the kind of enthusiasm that's impossible not to love. Whether he's running around with his dog friends, splashing through the water, exploring somewhere new, or greeting every person he meets like they're his long-lost best friend, Jerry has a way of making every day a little more fun. He's fearless, outgoing, and always seems ready to see what exciting thing comes next.

Jerry is approximately 7 months old, currently weighs around 47 lbs, and we believe he may be a Lab/pittie mix. As with any rescue dog, breed is always a bit of a mystery, but one thing we know for sure is that Jerry is 100% ready for his next adventure.
One of Jerry's favorite things in the entire world is being outside. If there's a yard to explore, he's already checking it out. If there's water nearby, chances are he's already in it. His foster says he absolutely loves splashing around, playing with the other dogs, zooming laps around the yard, soaking up the sunshine, and, if he happens to find a muddy spot... well... don't expect him to walk around it. He's convinced rolling in the mud is part of the outdoor experience. Jerry is incredibly social and genuinely loves everyone he meets. Guests coming over? He's the first one running over to say hello. Kids? He absolutely loves them and has done great with children ranging from 3 to 17 years old.
Dogs? He's a huge fan of those too. He currently lives with dogs of all different sizes and personalities and happily wrestles, chases, and plays with them every chance he gets. While he doesn't have to go to a home with another dog, we do think he'd really enjoy having regular opportunities to play with canine friends because it's one of his favorite things to do. He's also living with a cat and has learned to respectfully leave the cat alone after receiving one very clear correction.
When it comes to toys, Jerry definitely has opinions. Balls are his favorite, although he's still working on the whole ""bringing it back"" part of fetch. Stuffed toys, on the other hand... let's just say they usually don't have a very long life expectancy. He's also a pretty enthusiastic chewer, so keeping plenty of appropriate chew toys around will definitely help set him up for success. The good news is he's very easy about sharing and happily lets people take toys away without any fuss.
Jerry is potty trained, leash trained, and sleeps quietly in his crate at night. Like many young dogs, he'll let you know if exciting things are happening around him while he's crated because he doesn't want to miss out on the fun. He also rides safely in a crate in the car, although he'll need a little help getting in because he's not quite convinced loading himself is necessary.
Because Jerry is still a young, energetic guy, he's looking for a family that's excited to include him in their adventures. Whether that's hiking, trips to the lake, exploring new places, or simply spending time outside together, he'll be happiest with people who enjoy getting out and making memories. A fenced backyard would be ideal so he has room to run, play, and burn off some of that puppy energy. He's still working on not jumping up when he gets excited and remembering that not everything he finds belongs to him, but he's already making great progress and continues to improve with consistency and routine. Once he's gotten his exercise for the day, he's more than happy to settle down on the couch and enjoy a relaxing evening with his favorite people.
If you've been searching for a dog that's equal parts adventure buddy, playmate, family companion, and all-around happy guy, Jerry might just be exactly who you've been waiting for. Life is never boring with him around, and something tells us he's going to make his future family laugh every single day.
