DESCRIPTION

There is something incredibly special about watching a dog discover what it means to feel safe. For Chi, that discovery happened one peaceful nap, one chew toy, and one loving moment at a time. When she first arrived at her foster home, she was painfully thin, stressed, and dealing with painful sores and infections in both ears. The world had clearly not been kind to this sweet girl, and while we may never know everything she experienced before coming into rescue, we do know that the moment she was given a chance to feel loved, something beautiful began to happen. Chi started to blossom.

It didn't happen all at once, but it didn't take very long either. Within just a few days, Chi began to understand that her new surroundings were a safe place. She started accepting chew toys, discovering the joy of having something that belonged just to her. She began learning her potty-training routine and formed a sweet bond with her foster. Little by little, the worried girl who first arrived began showing everyone the loving, playful personality that had been waiting underneath all that stress.

And then there were the naps. Oh, the naps! Chi discovered the wonderful luxury of curling up somewhere comfortable and sleeping so deeply that the rest of the world could carry on without her. Sometimes she tucks her little head behind pillows, creating her very own cozy hiding spot. Other times, she falls asleep with just the tiniest bit of her tongue sticking out, looking completely ridiculous and absolutely precious. Watching her enjoy these peaceful moments is especially heartwarming when you remember how unsettled she was when she first arrived.

Now that Chi has settled into the comforts of home, she has developed some very strong opinions about what makes life wonderful. Chew toys are at the very top of her list! She absolutely loves them and is delighted to have something to happily occupy herself with. Her snuffle mat is another favorite, giving her a fun little activity to enjoy. She also likes going for car rides and is always happy to spend some quality time cuddled up with her favorite person. Chi is a certified cuddle bug, and affection is something she happily gives and receives.

Chi also has a voice, and she isn't afraid to use it! When she gets bored, she sometimes lets out a howl as though she's trying to start a conversation. Perhaps she's reminding you that it's time for a little entertainment, or maybe she just has something important to say. Either way, her funny little conversations are another piece of the personality that makes Chi so endearing.

Chi currently lives in an apartment with her foster and an older canine foster brother who isn't particularly interested in playing. Rather than insisting he join her fun, Chi has learned to adapt to his quieter lifestyle. The two have settled into a comfortable routine and coexist happily, showing that Chi can share her home with another dog who appreciates having his own space. She's learning that companionship doesn't always have to mean constant playtime. Sometimes it's simply enjoying the comfort of being together.

Because of the ear infections she experienced, Chi has had some challenges with her balance. It's part of her story and something her future family should understand, but it certainly doesn't take away from the wonderful little companion she has become. She continues to enjoy her favorite activities, affection, and the simple pleasures of everyday life.

What makes Chi so special isn't just what she's been through. It's how quickly she opened her heart when someone finally gave her the opportunity. In a matter of days, she went from a stressed, uncomfortable girl to a dog who could enjoy toys, trust her foster, cuddle close, and sleep peacefully with her tongue peeking out.

Chi doesn't need an extraordinary life to be happy. She has already shown us that the little things mean the world to her. A soft place to rest, a chew toy to enjoy, a car ride, a snuffle mat, and someone who loves her are the ingredients for her kind of happiness.

Now she's ready for the next chapter, one where she doesn't have to wonder if she's safe or loved. She's ready for a home where the cozy naps never end, the chew toys are always within reach, and her sweet little howls are met with a smile.
