DESCRIPTION

Meet Koda 🐾

Koda is a 6-month-old, 30 lb pit bull terrier puppy. He is fully vetted (neutered, current on vaccinations and preventions, and microchipped). He is crate trained, mostly housetrained, and currently working on leash skills and basic commands. In just a couple of weeks, he has already learned sit and a few other fun commands.

🐶 Other Dogs
Koda is fostering in a home with two other dogs. He enjoys other dogs and is a great play companion. He plays rough and rowdy with dogs his own size, but adjusts his play style around smaller dogs by mostly sticking to running and chase games, showing that he is aware of his size and strength.

🐱 Cats
Koda is fostering in a multi-cat home and has been mostly integrated successfully. Occasionally, like many puppies, he can become overstimulated and chase a cat. Other times, he ignores them. So cat training would need to be worked on, but the outlook is very positive.

👩 Humans
Koda is very female-oriented and completely relaxed around women, full cuddle-bug. He is more cautious around men. In his foster home, he comfortably roams the yard with foster dad, takes treats from him, and accepts pets and scratches, but sudden movements can still make him nervous or cause him to bark or retreat. He isn't cuddly with foster dad yet either, but he watches him from a distance and we believe he is warming up.

We believe Koda likely had limited positive socialization with men early in life, but is young and we fully believe he will form a new positive approach with men once he realizes they are not all bad.

We are unaware of any history with children.

🍺 Out & About
Koda’s foster family is actively socializing him through walks and outings to pet-friendly public places like brewery patios. Overall, he does well. He allows people to approach him, sniff hands, and offer gentle pets. Men in public settings seem less intimidating to him, and he will often cautiously relax and rest nearby. He also does well around other dogs as long as introductions are calm and respectful.

❤️ Rescue Story
Koda was found near death on the side of a small country road. A passerby picked him up and brought him to the nearest vet clinic. He was severely underweight and in poor condition. Unable to afford treatment for a stray puppy, the finder requested euthanasia. The veterinary team felt Koda deserved a chance, and the clinic chose to treat and rehabilitate him at their own expense. After two months of recovery and care, Koda was finally healthy enough to enter rescue and foster care.

🏡 Overall
Koda had a very difficult start in life, but he is still just a puppy and continues to improve every week. He is affectionate, intelligent, playful, and eager to bond once he feels safe. His ideal home will continue building his confidence through structure, patience, ongoing socialization, and positive reinforcement. We believe Koda has all the potential to grow into an amazing lifelong companion in the right environment.
