RIVER'S STORY CONTINUES

Last year, River was found abandoned in the Metroparks. We brought him to the shelter, gave him the love and attention he needed, and after a few months, we were so happy to see him adopted.

We truly hoped River had found his forever.

Unfortunately, River was returned to us through no fault of his own.
When River left our care, he was at a healthy weight. Unfortunately, when he was returned to us, he had lost a significant amount of weight and was much thinner than when he left. Seeing him return in this condition was heartbreaking for all of us who knew and loved him.

Right now, our focus is getting River healthy again. He is receiving proper nutrition and lots of love, but he isnt gaining weight as quickly as we would like. We believe the stress of being back in the shelter environment may be making it harder for him to put the weight back on.

This is where we could really use a foster home.

A quiet, comfortable home where River can decompress, relax, eat his meals and get away from the daily stress of the kennels could make such a difference for him. Even if you arent ready to adopt, fostering River would give him a chance to recover outside of the shelter while we continue working toward his future.
River has already been through so much. He was abandoned in the Metroparks, spent months waiting for a home, was adopted, and now finds himself back with us once again.
For now, River needs a soft place to land.

River here!

Im cool, sweet, and totally awesome — at least thats what everyone keeps telling me!

I was found all alone at Euclid Creek, curled up in a little ball in the woods. A kind lady spotted me and called animal control, and before I knew it, I was scooped up and safe at Euclid Pet Pals. No tags, no microchip — just me trying to survive on my own.

But Ive learned something important: people can be really nice. The shelter staff have shown me love and care, and Ive realized I can trust again. I like other dogs, and I definitely love people.

Now, I know dogs that look like me dont always get picked first. I dont have fancy colors or spots — just sleek black fur and a big heart. But if you give me a chance, Ill fill your days with joy, laughter, and loyalty like no other.
Im about 23 years old and weigh around 50 pounds — the perfect size for cuddles and adventures!
Please dont let me sit here waiting. Come meet me, fall in love, and take me home.
