DESCRIPTION
El Nino came to us after being hit by a car, and even as a tripawd, he hasn't let that slow him down one bit. He's playful, loving, and always ready for the next adventure - the definition of "Where we going now?!"
Unfortunately, the shelter environment has been hard on such a sensitive, affectionate boy. The stress has started to show in his kennel, where he's been tossing his food and water bowls out of frustration - but we know that isn't who El Nino truly is. Outside his kennel, he's a total sweetheart who adores people and just wants connection.
El Nino would do best in a patient, loving home that can give him time to decompress and feel safe again. He already knows "sit" and "come," is learning how to fetch (he hasn't quite figured out he's supposed to bring the ball back), and does well on leash with redirection. He has lived with other dogs at the shelter and likes to play, but he'd love slow introductions with other dogs at home. He's also highly treat motivated, making him a great candidate for continued training.
After more than four months of waiting, El Nino is starting to lose his spark. He just needs a chance to show who he really is: a goofy, playful, incredibly affectionate pup who deserves so much more than life in a kennel.
You can meet El Nino at the Mission Valley Adoption Center - 9068 Socorro Rd, open daily from 12-5 PM. ...
ABOUT: MIXED BREED DOG BREED
The mixed breed dogs, often referred to as mutts, are a diverse and unique group with a blend of different characteristics from various purebred dog breeds. These dogs come from a mixture of lineages, resulting in a wide range of sizes, coat types, and temperaments. While each mixed breed dog is distinct in its own right, they are known for their resilience, adaptability, and often have fewer health issues compared to purebred dogs due to their genetic diversity. Mixed breed dogs make wonderful companions for families looking for a loyal and one-of-a-kind pet.
The Pit Bull Terrier is a resilient and loyal breed known for its muscular build and loving nature. Originally bred for bull baiting and later dog fighting, Pit Bulls today are beloved family pets cherished for their gentle temperament and playful personality. With proper training and socialization, Pit Bull Terriers make affectionate companions that thrive on human interaction. Recognized for their strength and agility, these dogs require regular exercise and mental stimulation to channel their energy positively, reinforcing their reputation as devoted and trainable pets.
