Lakota has been a familiar face at Chicago Animal Care & Control, and in the past, her person always came back for her. This time… they didn’t. We could feel the heartbreak within her. The searching. The waiting. The quiet heartbreak of a dog who thought she knew how her story went.

Lakota is still here and she is full of life.

She’s got that radio host personality, like she’s running a full show in her head, commentary included, witty, hilarious, and just a little bit opinionated in the best way. She’s seen some things. She knows herself, and she carries that experience with a kind of grace that makes you lean in and listen.

Lakota isn’t asking for chaos. She’s looking for ease. A gardening club membership. A calm, steady home. A Meryl Streep marathon. A sun lit spot on a cozy bed. A person who appreciates quiet companionship, gentle routines, and a dog who brings both humor and heart into the everyday.

She’s a lovely, funny, deeply charming girl who just wants a safe place to land and a human who sees her for exactly who she is.

Lakota is ready for her next chapter.
