Imagine spending months watching people come and go, hearing doors open and close, and wondering when it will finally be your turn to leave.
For Nala, that's been her reality since March.
Nala's story began when she and her brother were found running down the highway together. Two dogs, alone and vulnerable, with no idea what would happen next. Thankfully, they were rescued and brought to safety, but their stories have taken very different turns.
Her brother has since been adopted. He got his happy ending, his very own family, and a home to call his own.
Nala is still waiting.
For months, this sweet girl has been living in a kennel at a veterinary clinic. While we're incredibly grateful she's safe and cared for, a kennel is no place for a young dog to spend her days. She's growing increasingly restless, and it's heartbreaking to think about how much of her life is passing by while she waits for someone to choose her.
Nala deserves a couch to curl up on, a yard to explore, people to love, and a life that consists of more than the same four walls every single day.
And she has so much love to give.
Once Nala feels comfortable with someone, her excitement can get the best of her, and she may jump up to greet them. She's a young girl who is eager for affection and would benefit from a family willing to help her continue learning her manners.
Nala has been tested with other dogs and did well, so a home with a compatible canine companion could be a wonderful fit. She does show an interest in chasing cats, however, so we're recommending a cat-free home.
Nala has also done wonderfully keeping her kennel clean and appears to have a good foundation with potty training, although her habits in a home environment are still unknown. Her experience with children has not yet been evaluated.
But here's what we do know.
Nala has spent more than half a year waiting for a life outside of a kennel. She's watched her brother find a family while she continues to wait for hers. She's a young dog with so much life ahead of her, and she deserves the opportunity to actually live it.
She doesn't need a perfect family. She needs a patient, loving one. Someone willing to give her time to adjust, help her learn, and show her what it means to finally belong somewhere.
Nala has been safe since March. Now she deserves to be home.
Please don't let another month pass with this sweet girl wondering when it will finally be her turn.
