Lexi - Pit Bull Terrier and American Staffordshire Terrier Dog for Adoption in Baltimore, Maryland

Lexi is a sweet, lovable Staffy mix who is now in Middle River, Maryland and looking for her forever home!

Lexi was rescued from a neglected home in South Carolina, where she was left outside much of the time with nothing more than a broken-down dog house. After coming into a loving home, she has spent the past six months discovering just how wonderful life can be.

Lexi is truly the sweetest girl with an easygoing, affectionate personality. She is a total couch potato who loves relaxing, sleeping on the bed, and hanging out with her people. She also enjoys walks and chewing on a good bone. She is house trained and is just an incredibly easy girl to live with.

Unfortunately, after peacefully living with another female pit bull mix for several months, Lexi recently developed a serious conflict with the other female. The dogs have had two significant fights, and their family has had to keep them completely separated.

Female-to-female conflicts can happen even after dogs have lived together successfully for a long time, which is one of the reasons we are very cautious about pairing two female dogs. This doesn't necessarily mean Lexi can't live with another dog. With the right introduction and personality match, a calm, compatible male dog with a similar energy level could potentially be a wonderful companion for her. We simply don't want to rule out the possibility based on her current situation.

Her family loves Lexi dearly and had planned to keep her forever, but they know the current situation isn't sustainable. They believe Lexi deserves a home where everyone can relax and where she can continue being the happy, affectionate girl they know and love.

Lexi is approximately 3–5 years old, weighs about 75 pounds, is spayed, fully vaccinated, and was treated for heartworm approximately eight months ago. She has not been crate trained, so her comfort with a crate is unknown.

Lexi has been wonderful with people and was comfortable when her 3-year-old granddaughter visited. However, because she has had very little exposure to children, her family feels a home with older children or adults may be the best fit.

We don't know how Lexi would do with cats. She loves chasing squirrels and rabbits, so a cat-free home would likely be the safest choice.

Lexi would make an amazing companion for someone looking for a big, sweet, affectionate couch potato. She loves her people, enjoys her walks and bones, and is ready to put her past behind her and settle into a forever home.
