Gentle soul and slow steps, despite his size, this boy can soften a whole room without even trying. This is Bruce, and if you’ve ever had a soft spot for the old ones, you’re going to feel this one in your chest.
Before you read another word, go watch Bruce on YouTube, then come right back to read more about Bruce. https://youtu.be/OymL40RcE6U?si=SvOjigxG6CjH4w9c
Bruce is estimated to be around 14 years old, and yes, he’s a senior in every sense of the word, including being deaf, which just means he’s living life in his own peaceful little bubble. Loud world? Bruce is unbothered. What matters to Bruce is what he can feel… soft beds, kind hands, and the simple joy of being close to someone who sees him. He’s currently fostered in a loving home where he greets kids and guests with this gentle, open-hearted energy. Happy to be there with an energy that feels like he’s been waiting his whole life to be welcomed in like this. When you ask his foster what her favorite thing is she will say, without hesitation- his gentle spirit and his strut. Yes, he has a strut. It’s not fast, it’s not flashy, but it’s him.
If couch potato is what you seek, you have found the ultimate grand champion. Bruce’s step goals, embarrassingly in the low 100’s. Walks for him are more about the sniff count, the goals are simple, a handful of steps and a lot of good sniffs. He is more about moments than movement. And when he’s done with all that strenuous exercise? You’ll find him in his signature move… a full, committed, 10 out of 10 sploot, sometimes paired with a beloved stuffie. It’s his thing, and it’s perfection.
Bruce’s life before now didn’t teach him all about the good dog life so there is so much that despite his age, he is experiencing for the first time. It is incredibly sweet to see a senior enjoy their first pup cup or the wild lights of the car wash. If you think about it too long it will make you cry, it sure did for us. Bruce has been introduced to a variety of dogs and he is polite but eager. The dog he made the funnest connection with was a bully babe with a rough and rowdy playstyle. She gave him a run for his money and he liked it. Despite the friendly and playful nature he would do best in an only dog home. Your one and only! Not because he isn’t good, but because he is still figuring out a whole new way of life and really what this is about is giving him the chance to learn what it means to just be. To relax and enjoy.
Dogs like Bruce don’t need perfection. This ol’ boy is looking for someon who will meet him where he is at. A home with a yard where he can roam, nap, sploot, and simply exist in comfort. A soft place to land and his well deserved golden days.
If you’ve ever thought about opening your home to a senior, to a dog who just wants to make up for a life lived with out the love he deserved, Bruce is waiting for you!
Apply today to give this sweet old soul the best days of his life.

At our 2 acre Texas based property, we assess every animal with trainers on staff, we modify behavior as needed, and create individualized behavior plans to help prepare dogs for their future families including crate training, potty training, leash walking, etc. Our fosters are able to attend group training and socialization play groups helping them stay confident, well rounded, and adoption-ready. Our on-site trainers are dedicated to each dog’s growth and we enjoy seeing their progress!
We go above and beyond to ensure every animal receives exceptional care. Veterinarians consistently praise our medical standards. From routine care to advanced treatments, each dog receives personalized attention. Hard costs for a healthy dog range from $804-$920; heartworm-positive dogs or those needing specialized care can exceed $2,000+. Adoption fees help cover a portion of these expenses, but without government funding, we rely on fundraising to bridge the gap—ranging from $100–$1,000+ per dog.
Our adoption fees reflect the extensive care and resources that go into each animal we save. The adoption fee is a donation to the mission and goes far beyond getting a fully vetted pet.
