Kanin and Buddy - Mixed Breed Dog for Adoption in Warren, Ohio

Well, folks... we have two gentlemen we would REALLY love to introduce you to.
And quite frankly, these two have been nothing but an absolute pleasure.
Kanin (brown) and Buddy (white).
These boys have been with us since approximately June. Their owner had fallen on hard times and was unable to care for them, so once again, The Healthy Hearts and Paws Project stepped in to help someone who needed a little assistance.
Unfortunately, communication with their owner has since stopped, and here we are, months later, with two more dogs who need homes.

While our volunteers may occasionally mumble under their breath about another couple of dogs added to the roster , we can honestly say these two have been an absolute DELIGHT.
No drama. No nonsense. No complaints.
Just two older gentlemen who are happy someone showed up to visit their apartment.

Kanin is our official toy collector.
When he sees you coming, he proudly grabs one of his toys like, “OH GOOD, COMPANY! LOOK WHAT I HAVE!” And chances are, that toy is coming along when we move him from one play yard to another.
And can we PLEASE talk about Kanin’s eyes for a minute?
This boy looks at you with the most soulful eyes you have ever seen. The kind that make you want to drop right down to your knees, wrap your arms around him, and give him the biggest, fattest hug imaginable. And trust us, he deserves every bit of it.

And then there’s Buddy. Oh, sweet Buddy.
Buddy is just along for the ride.
We genuinely don’t think there are enough adjectives in the English language to describe how incredibly sweet these two boys are. They’re gentle, loving, easygoing, and just so darn happy to have someone spend a little time with them.
These two share a doghouse, snuggle together, and genuinely adore each other. You can often catch Kanin lovingly licking Buddy’s ears. Buddy has struggled with allergies, and watching these two look after one another has been incredibly sweet.
They’ve been wonderful about keeping their outdoor kennel clean, enjoy their little walks, and are perfectly content just sitting beside you enjoying some company.
They are truly two little old gentlemen who aren’t asking for much.
A soft place to sleep. Some toys for Kanin. A little extra TLC for Buddy. And most importantly, a home where they can stay together.
They are very bonded, and we would love nothing more than to see them spend their senior years side by side in a home instead of a shelter.
We think they may do well with a calm, submissive resident dog, but they have not been formally dog tested, so a proper introduction and resident dog meet would absolutely be required.
A little more about our gentlemen: Kanin is already neutered, and Buddy will still need to be neutered. We would be happy to discuss those details with anyone interested in giving these two sweet boys a home together.
We know asking someone to open their home to TWO older dogs is a big ask.
But if you could spend just 15 minutes with Kanin and Buddy, you would understand why we’re asking.
They have spent the entire summer being good boys. Now we’d love for them to spend the fall being somebody’s boys.
