Tuff - Mixed Breed Dog for Adoption in Trenton, Maine

TUFF

Mixed Breed
🇺🇸
Trenton, Maine
August 5th
male, small, baby

DESCRIPTION

Cute little Tuff is available to a very specific home. Tuffy boy came to us from MS, where he was a little street pup. Tuff learned from a very young age that he was his siblings' protector and no one was safe. That's how he got his name, Tuff, because he had to be really tough to keep himself and his siblings safe. Tuff is looking for a FOSTER OR ADOPTER with extensive experience with under-socialized and/or reactive dogs. At only 4ish months old, Tuff has built walls trying to shut anyone and everyone out as a self-preservation tactic. We feel he has a much better chance at a happy, healthy life if he gets out of the shelter ASAP and into the hands of someone with the experience and patience it takes to help a little feller like him. We hope that once trust is built, he will flourish into an amazing boy. His brothers, Manny and Baked Bean, are currently in foster care, proving it can be done. We just need someone to take the leap for Tuff. Tuff, like his brothers, has extreme leash-related trauma. He needs a fenced-in yard and someone willing to help him get past this. He is fine living with other dogs, but prefers to keep his space. Please reach out to Bella, our Director of Animal Care, for more information by emailing bella.c@spcahancockcounty.org

ABOUT: MIXED BREED DOG BREED

The mixed breed dogs, often referred to as mutts, are a diverse and unique group with a blend of different characteristics from various purebred dog breeds. These dogs come from a mixture of lineages, resulting in a wide range of sizes, coat types, and temperaments. While each mixed breed dog is distinct in its own right, they are known for their resilience, adaptability, and often have fewer health issues compared to purebred dogs due to their genetic diversity. Mixed breed dogs make wonderful companions for families looking for a loyal and one-of-a-kind pet.
