DESCRIPTION
Tanner is a sweet, affectionate boy looking for a home where he can settle in and thrive. He has lived successfully with cats, dogs, and respectful children (ages 9 and 12), making him a wonderful companion for many families.
Tanner loves being with his people and does experience some separation anxiety. Because of this, he'll do best in a home where someone is around most of the time or where he won't be left alone for long stretches- his future family should be committed to helping him build confidence through a consistent routine, crate training, and creating a safe, comfortable space where he can relax when home alone. With patience and structure, Tanner has the potential to flourish.
He can get a little excited when greeting people and may jump up to say hello, but he responds well to gentle reminders. On walks, Tanner can be reactive toward other dogs while on leash, though he has done well interacting with dogs off leash.
Tanner is currently available as a foster-to-adopt while a lump on his front leg is being evaluated. He's feeling great and is ready to begin the transition into his forever home while his veterinary care is completed.
If you're looking for a loyal, loving companion and are willing to help Tanner build his confidence, he may be the perfect addition to your family!
ABOUT: MIXED BREED DOG BREED
The mixed breed dogs, often referred to as mutts, are a diverse and unique group with a blend of different characteristics from various purebred dog breeds. These dogs come from a mixture of lineages, resulting in a wide range of sizes, coat types, and temperaments. While each mixed breed dog is distinct in its own right, they are known for their resilience, adaptability, and often have fewer health issues compared to purebred dogs due to their genetic diversity. Mixed breed dogs make wonderful companions for families looking for a loyal and one-of-a-kind pet.
