Santina - Mixed Breed Dog for Adoption in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Santina was in the middle of her kennel when I approached. Eyes soft, furrowed brow, ears to the side and tail down not moving. I dropped a treat in and she came forward to eat it. Was able to leash easily. Need light leash pressure and treat lure to leave kennel. Walking through the kennels she kept freezing and looking around. Once in the hallway she walked easier however still needed occasional leash pressure and food lure. As we were making our way out side she saw the fake stuffed dog and slowly walked up to it then her tail began to wag. Used the fake dog to get her moving as she followed it. Outside she walked without hesitation. Met mini through the fence and her tail was mid loosely wagging and body softened. Good greetings with Cabinet on leash. Followed him back inside. While waiting in the flex space Santina began leaning into me for pets. When I stopped she came over and sat down right in front of me. I was able to check her ears and teeth. To return to kennel I kept her moving with a light jog and she went right into her kennel. tried to slightly push back out and I removed leash with hand.

The mixed breed dogs, often referred to as mutts, are a diverse and unique group with a blend of different characteristics from various purebred dog breeds. These dogs come from a mixture of lineages, resulting in a wide range of sizes, coat types, and temperaments. While each mixed breed dog is distinct in its own right, they are known for their resilience, adaptability, and often have fewer health issues compared to purebred dogs due to their genetic diversity. Mixed breed dogs make wonderful companions for families looking for a loyal and one-of-a-kind pet.
