Josie - Mixed Breed Dog for Adoption in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Josie loves attention, sometimes jumping up excitedly to say hello! She's still working on "sit" but she takes treats with the softest touch and shows her willingness to learn!
While she's still building her confidence, Josie allows all handling and enjoys short bursts of playtime too!
With a little love and reassurance, Josie is sure to blossom into the wonderful pup she's meant to be.

KENNEL PRESENTATION:
Josie was laying on her bed when I approached and looked up with gentle soft eyes. She wouldn't approach until I opened the kennel door slightly with a low tail. She allowed easy leashing and came right out once secured.

LEASH SKILLS:
Pulls moderately to strong

HANDLING :
In the room, Josie was very nervous and sniffed around with a lowered body. She came up and jumped all over me when I called for her with a mid level tail and tried to engage in play but seemed too nervous at that time. I gave her some treats which she didn't sit for and jumped up at me with her front paws. She took them very gently and was patient while I took pictures of her. She allowed all handling and was just very timid and relaxed.

TOYS:
No interest

03/31/2025 staff notes, playgroup: Uninterested in other dogs at first. Allowed and tolerated other dogs greeting but did not reciprocate until a playful female started initiating play. Then she started to come out of her shell and played until the end of the session.
