DESCRIPTION

from a staff member:
I took Galaxy out after he got checked in and the verdict still stands - he's precious! He was easy to leash and walked timidly outside. He was shaking at first and kept his nose to the ground sniffing around. I was out with another volunteer that joined me in the yard. Eventually Galaxy went up to us both to sniff us. He tolerated pets, but reallly enjoyed butt scratches specifically. He gently rested his front paws on the volunteer as they sat on the bench a few times, accepting lots of pets. He showed curiosity towards the school students walking passed on the sidewalk, potentially searching for his owner (he was a stray but seems well taken care of). When dogs passed, Galaxy seemed very interested and would lean forward with a mid to high raised tail. As the dogs walked away, he'd let out a small whimper. When he met Pumpernickel through the fence, he had a high flagging tail and burst into play bows as soon as Pumpernickel disengaged. He seems interested in play but is still shy. He showed interest in the toys I threw, but did not pick them up. He also did not eat any treats outside.

When I took Galaxy back to the eval room, he did not want to go through the doors and I had to use leash pressure. He really did not want to go in his crate and resisted. I could tell the barking was overwhelming him on top of not wanting to go back in. I walked him back to the door and clipped the leash. I then did a loop and used leash pressure again and he walked back in the crate this time. He did not attempt to get back out and let me unleash with the clip method. I gave him some more gentle pets before closing the crate door.

ABOUT: MIXED BREED DOG BREED

The mixed breed dogs, often referred to as mutts, are a diverse and unique group with a blend of different characteristics from various purebred dog breeds. These dogs come from a mixture of lineages, resulting in a wide range of sizes, coat types, and temperaments. While each mixed breed dog is distinct in its own right, they are known for their resilience, adaptability, and often have fewer health issues compared to purebred dogs due to their genetic diversity. Mixed breed dogs make wonderful companions for families looking for a loyal and one-of-a-kind pet.
