Frisby ACCT-A-243701 is currently considered urgent and at risk of euthanasia due to length of stay and lack of space for incoming dogs. Frisby must have confirmed placement with a RESCUE PARTNER or ADOPTER by THURSDAY, MARCH 19TH at 10AM. Should Frisby's medical or behavioral status change, his urgency and timeline for placement may also change.

Frisby came to ACCT Philly on February 22nd when police brought him in as a stray. He immediately showed a friendly and social demeanor with staff and was easily leashed and walked into the kennel. Frisby has quickly built a reputation among volunteers as one of the most affectionate dogs at the shelter. He greets people with an enthusiastic wiggly body and seems happiest when he is close to his humans-often offering hugs or climbing up for cuddles on a bench. Volunteers consistently describe him as sweet, snuggly, and attentive, and he happily takes treats while even showing that he knows the "sit" command. While he may start a walk with a little extra enthusiasm, he settles nicely once he gets some time outside and attention from his people. Frisby has had good fence meets with other dogs, but overcorrected another dog in playgroup, so will need slow introductions if going to a home with another dog. Volunteers note that he has a medium energy level overall and balances playful moments with plenty of affectionate snuggle time. Due to his length of stay, Frisby is urgently seeking placement with a rescue partner or adopter.

BEHAVIOR:
Playgroup 3/14: Mildly steerable with water (1/5) but not with shake can (0/5). Entered quickly into the yard and flew into rowdy, grumbly behavior toward Giuseppe - was corrected, which he heard and respected, backing off asap. Later was greeted by Blakely, and after a few seconds of stilted, slow greetings, overcorrected her for space, was quickly steered off, and removed from the yard.

Per volunteer 3/13: Frisby was a joy to interact with. He is very loving and food motivated. He had multiple good fence meets with dogs who he approaches enthusiastically. With some love, structure, and consistency, he will make a wonderful companion. Maybe a little too interested for a smaller dog. He handled being barked at like a pro and remained neutral. He also has some beautiful brindle striping in his coat that will blossom with nutritious meals which he is sure to enjoy.

Per volunteer 3/13: Medium energy. Cute, sweet boy, nice walk.

Per volunteer 3/11: Medium energy. So sweet + fun. Likes to meet other pups.

Per volunteer 3/8: Medium energy. So so so affectionate. Good walk down street. Seems good w/ other dogs.

Per volunteer 3/9: Sweet boy, nice walk.
Per volunteer 3/8: This is the most immediately affectionate dog I have ever met at acct. Frisby could not wait to give hugs the second we got out the door. I seriously cannot get over how snuggly and sweet he is. He seems totally fine with other dogs even when they bark at him(impressive!). We played a little but mostly just snuggled on the bench. He was so gentle that he preferred that I give him "upies" on the bench instead of him jumping himself. So cute. The person who ends up with Frisby is going to be showered in love... Constantly.

Per staff 3/2: Assessing as Gold based on extant notes.

Per volunteer 3/2: Medium energy. Seemed very interested in other dogs but did not get close enough.

Per volunteer 3/1: When I approached his kennel, he was very happy and wiggly, jumping up to greet me. He was easy to leash and walk out, maintaining a loose body while going through the kennels. I had another volunteer with me, and he greeted her with a wiggly body, loose mouth, and soft eyes. He is a very sweet boy. Since he hadn't been out in a couple of days, he pulled a bit on the leash at first, but it was clearly out of excitement. Once in the play yard, he was very attentive, gave us hugs, and took treats nicely. He also knows the "sit" command. After about 15 to 20 minutes, he calmed down well. He seems quite young, perhaps around a year old, and while he can be a bit jumpy, it appears to be just playful energy. He had no issues going back into his kennel. I absolutely adore him.

Per volunteer 2/26: Low-medium energy. Barky sometimes at other dogs. Very affectionate, loved pets.

Per staff 2/23: Very friendly.

Per staff 2/22: Dog looks friendly, ACA able to leash from police vehicle, walked to kennel.

ABOUT: MIXED BREED DOG BREED

The mixed breed dogs, often referred to as mutts, are a diverse and unique group with a blend of different characteristics from various purebred dog breeds. These dogs come from a mixture of lineages, resulting in a wide range of sizes, coat types, and temperaments. While each mixed breed dog is distinct in its own right, they are known for their resilience, adaptability, and often have fewer health issues compared to purebred dogs due to their genetic diversity. Mixed breed dogs make wonderful companions for families looking for a loyal and one-of-a-kind pet.
