Behavioral Notes

Volunteer 7/3/26: On 7/2/26 I spent time with Cassidy! He was super excited to go outside with me. However Cassidy did not love the very hot day. Cassidy made the best of it and revealed his snuggly personality. He is friendly and easy going. Cassidy was easy on the leash for me. I loved that he enjoys burrowing under your legs to sit not on your lap but under it.

Fast and good greetings. Loose body, soft eyes and mid tail wagging. Pushy/pull play

07/01/2026 per staff behavioral eval:
Kennel Presentation: At the front of his kennel, loose wiggly body, soft eyes, mid tail wags. Took treats through the bars.

Leash Skills: Tossed a treat to get him to back up. Stood still, wiggling when leashing. Came right out, walked pulling mildly, high tail, ears forward. Outside shook off, mid tail wags, ears to the side. Would occasionally pully strongly towards other dogs, mid to high tail wags, ears back. Able to be moved away with leash pressure and calling to him.

Sociability: Comes over when called with soft eyes, ears back, mid tail wags, loose body. Allowed all handling with the same body language. Would nudge my hand with his head when I stopped. Takes treats a little snatchy so open palm is best! Started to get a little jumpy with treats, soft eyes, ears back, mid tail wags. Redirected well by tossing them. When I sat down on the bench he came over and put his front paws on my lap, leaning into me with the same loose body language.

Play: Would pick up the toys I offered then dropped them.

Dog Interaction: Met Zero, fast mid to high tail wags, ears back, pushy play.

Return to Kennel: Walked back, pulling mildly, mid tail wags, ears forward. Went right into kennel and leash was removed easily by hand.
