Ajay - Mixed Breed Dog for Adoption in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Ajay ACCT-A-262830 is an approximately 4-month-old, 13.8 lb puppy who was found as a stray 9/24 after being found injured. Despite arriving with a painful leg injury, Ajay has been described as friendly, social, and submissive, and he has been tolerant of handling and his medical exam.

Ajay is currently unable to bear weight on his right front leg, which has diffuse swelling and associated pain. Radiographs did not show any obvious fractures, but a soft tissue injury, abscess, fracture not visible on radiographs, or another cause is still being considered. He is receiving pain medication and antibiotics while he continues to be evaluated. Ajay also has a few small scabs on his head and limbs.

This sweet young puppy is looking for a rescue placement that can provide continued medical care, rest, and monitoring while his leg heals.

MEDICAL NOTES

09/24/2026 - Triage Exam: Ajay weighed 13.8 lbs and had a lean body condition (BCS 4/9). He was non-weight bearing on his right front leg with swelling. Small scabs were noted on his head and all limbs. He was started on buprenorphine and gabapentin for pain and was approved to check in. Radiographs were recommended.

09/24/2026 - Vet Exam: Ajay had non-weight-bearing lameness of the right front leg with diffuse swelling and pain. Radiographs showed no overt fractures. The cause of the swelling is still being evaluated, with soft tissue injury, abscess, fracture, or another condition considered.

BEHAVIOR NOTES

09/28/26 per staff: I went to snap some pics of Ajay and he was extremely friendly! He was wiggly & excitable, but sat down as soon as I pet his back and enjoyed head pets & chin scritches with a loose wiggly tail.


09/24/2026 - Triage Exam: Ajay was bright, alert, friendly, social, and submissive. He was tolerant of all handling and his medical exam.

09/24/2026 - Vet Exam: Ajay remained bright and alert with normal mentation. No additional behavior concerns were documented.
