DESCRIPTION

We know of him from the pages of story books, but now within the walls of our shelter, Friar Tuck is here; not with a merry band, but with a story of quiet bravery and resilience that would make even Robin Hood proud.

This noble boy came into our care as an emergency, bearing the marks of a battle we may never fully understand. With a severe injury to his front left chest and shoulder, along with multiple puncture wounds across his body, Friar Tuck had every reason to be fearful, guarded, or overwhelmed. And yet...he chose to be gentle.

Despite his pain, despite the new environment and people, Friar Tuck has shown nothing but patience, trust, and a kind spirit that speaks volumes about the dog he is.

Like the storybooks, this is no small Friar. At over 100lbs, Friar Tuck is a very big boy. But not once has he used his size to resist care or make demands. Instead, he leans into kindness, proving that true strength isnt measured in pounds, but in heart.

Friar has finally healed, he is cone free and enjoying life! He adores people of all ages, seems drawn to children, and is a playful companion (small bear). He does enjoy enveloping people in his body slams, and will flop on top of you if you let him. He is a love bug!

The only time we've seen him use his weight to his advantage is when he's out on a leashed walk, he can really lock in and use his gentle giant strength to convince you to go the direction he wants you to go.

He is quite fearful of other dogs still, despite his time in care. We don't know if that is a wound that will ever heal, so we would want to see him find a home where he doesn't need to have his guard up all the time, and he can be a solo companion to his people.

ABOUT: MIXED BREED DOG BREED

The mixed breed dogs, often referred to as mutts, are a diverse and unique group with a blend of different characteristics from various purebred dog breeds. These dogs come from a mixture of lineages, resulting in a wide range of sizes, coat types, and temperaments. While each mixed breed dog is distinct in its own right, they are known for their resilience, adaptability, and often have fewer health issues compared to purebred dogs due to their genetic diversity. Mixed breed dogs make wonderful companions for families looking for a loyal and one-of-a-kind pet.
