Royal - Mixed Breed Dog for Adoption in Memphis, Tennessee

Meet Royal, a beautiful young adult girl who may be an Akita mix and weighs around 60 pounds. This heartworm-negative girl has a fun, playful personality and would love a home where she can get plenty of exercise, explore, and enjoy life outside the shelter.

Royal walks nicely on a leash, although she can get distracted when she sees other dogs in their kennels. She went to the bathroom right away when we got outside, so she may already have some housetraining experience. In the play yard, she loved sniffing and exploring and had fun playing with a ball-she's still figuring out the whole "fetch" thing, but she's getting there! When she's feeling playful, Royal does adorable bunny hops and play bows.

She's not especially interested in being petted right now, but she was comfortable with gentle handling and allowed me to touch her without a problem. She also went back into her kennel nicely after our outing.

Royal has been dog tested and was able to coexist well with another dog. She can be a confident girl during dog interactions, so any potential adopter or foster with another dog should bring their dog to the shelter for a meet-and-greet before making a commitment.
